The Victim Mentality–15 Awful Things…

I saw this crazy post linked to by the World Net Daily and just had to comment on it.   It was titled: “15 Awful Things Republicans Would Do If They Had the Chance”.    Not  a wholesale condemnation of an entire  group of people or anything….

To anyone who is a critical thinker, this is absurd and laughable.  But for those who don’t unpack the rhetoric this can be alarmingly alluring.  The author works for a failing blog site that openly begs for donations on its website.  You can see why… I’ll deconstruct this liberal-victim point of view with my comments in italics.

It starts off like a shopping list, naming 15 things…and the entire premise is that Republicans are the ones that will ruin your life:

——————————————————————————————————————————————–

Always the political instrument of moneyed elites, and a retrograde societal force, the GOP today is more negatively impactful than ever.  Its agenda, if fully implemented, would prove catastrophic. Here’s what an unfettered Republican Party would do “for” America:

1) Greatly reduce or entirely eliminate taxes on the rich, thereby forcing hard-pressed working families to painfully make up resulting revenue shortfalls.

  • First, since when has any tax ever been entirely eliminated? The way this is written, it always APPEARS to be the ones who can least afford it who are  victimized.  Small businesses employ 85% of the country, and if the tax burden is decreased on them, they can expand and employ more workers which really does stimulate the economy. If it is increased, they get squeezed out of business affecting more people in a trickle down effect. And whose fault is it for having revenue shortfalls in the fist place?  Big government spending is responsible for this, not tax payers.

2) Bust labor unions, cruelly preventing the collective bargaining that’s the key reason why US workers ever won decent wages and benefits.

  • Labor Unions are responsible for the fall of the auto industry.  If unions keep demanding higher wages and striking if they don’t receive them, there’s bound to be a tipping point.  If car companies, or any company cannot increase profits as fast as they are spending on labor, then the value of the company falls, hence falling stock value, downsizing, layoffs, plant closures and displaced workers.  Free market would handle this by competition and employees could choose to work for the best company suited for them without paying extortion fees, um, I mean union dues.

3) Stubbornly deny the existence of ominous climate change while blithely pumping more pollutants into the environment from lucrative, dirty industries and practices. Although reputable scientists say 350 carbon parts per atmospheric million is the safe limit for sustained life on Earth, Republicans dismiss the frightening fact that we’re already at a carbon level of roughly 390 ppm.

  • At first the liberals call this Global Warming.  But since science has proven that the earth is not warming, they changed their catch phrase to “Climate Change”, instead of abandoning the empty argument altogether. We already have laws in place via the EPA which regulates pollution.  Besides, carbon dioxide is what we exhale, it’s not a pollutant.

4) Remove “restrictive” regulations on everything from investment banks and credit card companies to a broad array of “profit-eroding” consumer protections, leaving the American masses exposed to a host of resulting abuses and dangers.

  • First, it is the responsibility of the consumer to control where his own money goes, not the government.  Under the current administration, the credit card companies have been told what to put in disclosure statements and dictates about interest rates are about to be implemented hence the recent spike in credit card rates to 20%  before the new regulations take affect.    Banks have received bail-outs and have not been allowed to fail, even though there business model was flawed.  And what the hell is a “profit-eroding consumer protection” anyway?  An oxymoron, or a regular moron?

5) Continue to criticize and insufficiently fund public education, advocating private schooling instead, thus entirely ignoring that progressive public systems are used in every country that has education outcomes superior to our own.

  • Does Washington DC  know how many times per week is best for you to have trash pick up in your area?  Education is best handled at the state level.  The Department of Education on a federal level is just a money sucking entity, that is out of touch with what is happening locally.  Private schools should be a choice for those who are smart enough to save for it.  Public schools are not held to the same outcome-standards that private schools produce, even though there is a flood of money going to them.  Sounds like money mismanagement from too big of government to me.

6) Outlaw abortion, under a fraudulently moral guise, compelling the US to bloodily join those benighted, backward nations where thousands of already-born, living, breathing, socially functioning females perish because of sexist denials of their basic reproductive rights.

  • Reproductive rights begin before conception.  I believe in a woman’s right to choose.  She can choose to keep her legs closed.  She can choose to make him wear a condom.  She can choose to be on the pill.  But once conceived, that embryo is a living being.  Currently abortion is not illegal.   But there is a very large portion of the country that doesn’t believe it should be a funded procedure under the proposed Health Care Bill.  It looks like the libs are demanding we fund baby killing whether we are opposed to it or not.    Sounds like Communism to me.

7) Continue to recite a Pledge of Allegiance whose last six words are “with liberty and justice for all,” while remaining numbly oblivious to the harsh hypocrisy of preventing our homosexual citizens from marrying.

  • There are two planes by which to view marriage.  The social plane, whereas married couples enjoy certain rights such as filing joint tax returns, the access to each other while one member is in the hospital, joint property ownership and inheritance rights etc.  Then there is the second plane which is a holy union under God.  Isn’t that part of the vows…”so help me God”?
  • This is the part the libs forget all about.  They just want to be recognized by society. The first plane can be achieved by a Civil Union, Power of Attorney and a FABULOUS reception.   But they want the marriage title without regard for any deeper meaning of “marriage” or tradition.

8) Speak often and loftily of freedom, but engage in secret wiretapping, repression of domestic dissent, neo-McCarthyite witch hunts, Red-baiting name calling, and a panoply of Patriot Act transgressions against the Constitution of the United States…all under the misused rubric of “national security.”

  • There has been no greater media coverage of domestic dissent than MSNBC covering this summer’s Tea Parties.  In fact, the vitriole originated on their network.  The mention of the Constitution is rare by a liberal, because many don’t know what it means to UPHOLD the Consitution.  They just toss it out like a challenge flag in a football game when convenient.  The entire  Tea Party movement was about upholding the Constitution by less government invasion.
  • As far as national security, the Constitution coverts US citizens.  A military Tribunal handles terrorists, yet here we are dragging the 9/11 masterminds to New York for a civilian trail.  We are giving more rights to terrorists, Gitmo detainees and Fort Hood murdered Hasan than to our citizens.

9) Show the rest of humankind nothing but bullying world-cop arrogance through endless US interventions and aggressions on foreign soil, resulting not just in countless lives extinguished in indefensible wars, and billions of badly-needed dollars flushed down the drain, but constant al Qaeda recruitment against hated Yankee interlopers.

  • Obama’s Apology Tour has shown weakness to the world.  France doesn’t even take us seriously.  We are literally financially owned by China.  The “pretty-please” requests to Iran to stop the nuke production has not worked…they are firing test rockets toward Hawaii.  Frankly, the idea that the US somehow has an undercurrent of responsibility regarding al Qaeda hatred toward us is egregiously irresponsible to imply.

10) Generally drive down the income levels of America’s working-class majority, as a purported cost-saving corporate measure, without appreciating that a populace that’s too poor to buy back what society produces is doomed to economic ruin. A living wage is the ultimate “stimulus,” but try to find even one Republican who favors it!

  • Neither Republicans nor Demicrats have the power to “drive down the income levels”.  If those levels fall, it is due to economic conditions, not one party or the other.  A living wage is not the ultimate stimulus, it’s the ultimate welfare.  It’s the ultimate Socialism.  It’s the ultimate incentive killer for people to get off the couch and bag groceries, or toss boxes for UPS, or deliver pizzas or newspapers until the economy turns around.  And besides, who can determine what an adequate living wage would be?  Should we allow recipients to continue to buy cigarettes at over $5 per pack, and liquor and lottery tickets?  Should that be allotted in the living wage?  Should it allow for daycare so they can go to work?  Should it pay for their transportation expense too?   The philosophy:  “from each according to their ability, to each according to their need” is a direct quote from Karl Marx.

11) Continue to lie about the alternative, affordable health care for all that some fifty world nations’ people overwhelmingly support, thereby propagandistically leading Americans to think that having private insurance whose premiums are rising at rates three times higher than our pay — and which routinely denies coverage when it’s required most — is somehow preferable

  • Healthcare needs reform, but not the radical overhaul prescribed by HR3200.   There are cries from England and Canada about how their system has long waiting lines, lack of testing, and lack of preventive care available.  Most people get insurance through their employer and the out-of-paycheck premiums are affordable since the employer picks up the rest.   People come to this country for healthcare because it is superior, not many Americans go elsewhere  for healthcare. Research and Development far exceed the rest of the world.  And yet we are a few votes away from trashing it all in the name of Socialism.

12) Unleash de facto ethnic cleansing against 12 million immigrant men, women, and children, making them contemporary equivalents of the Jewish scapegoats that Hitler blamed for hardships Germans experienced during a prior period of capitalist economic distress.

  • This makes absolutely no sense and sane minds don’t even know what this lune is referring to.  It’s just meant to be an alarming statement but has no  fact-based substance.  It’s just a rant.

13) Shamefully try to lend credence to their avarice and social irresponsibility by revising the Bible to obscure passages that place human need before abject greed, attempting to turn it into a facilitating guide for modern peers of the temple moneychangers whose tables Jesus angrily knocked to the floor (and who undoubtedly wouldn’t be mentioned in the amended version that one conservative group is actually, amazingly `trying to put into circulation).

  • First, this is just one fat run-on sentence that tries to conflate several thoughts to equal a point.  Point failed.
  • Second, Avarice?  Wanting to keep what you earn is avarice?  People who want to keep what they earn are not interested in what you earn.  We just keep track of what we earn.  Yet people who don’t earn enough are fixated on what others earn, instead of trying to increase their own earnings.
  • Somehow it becomes society’s problem that losers don’t earn enough.  Somehow those who work 2 jobs and were smart enough to put money in savings, owe those who were not prudent with their money.   Somehow those who worked through the summer in high school owe those who hung around smoking pot.  Somehow those who were responsible and made sacrifices to get an education, time sacrifices away from their family, money sacrifices by being pragmatic and buying second hand items…somehow they owe the beer drinking loaf who flips burgers and watches Wheel-of Fortune instead of working a second job.  Hmm.  Everyone has 24 hours in a day.  What they do with it is their prerogative.  But don’t punish the achievers for making something of themselves.  “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.” We all have the right to PURSUE happiness.  It is not given to us.   So get off your butt and earn your own money.

14) Give full vent to the intensely bigoted hatred that has crazed extremists dreaming of literally tearing Barack Obama to pieces and gassing all liberals…if only they could.

  • The only bigoted hatred and reference to violence comes from this guy and people who think like him.  We don’t want to tear up Obama,  just because we make no secret that we want him out of office.  I haven’t heard one conservative reference personal violence toward Obama.  But the libs are hanging Sarah Palin, literally, in Los Angeles.   Who is the hypocrite?

15) Place the livelihoods and lives of over 300 million Americans in the hands of incompetent ideological “purists” such as Sarah Palin.

  • Livelihood (earnings) are not the governments to manage.  Once again, if you can, as Dave Ramsey says “Leave the cave, kill something and drag it home.”  that equals security.  The government is not going to provide for you, period.  Lives?  “The livelihood and lives.”   Hmm.  The only way the government may have sway over my life is due to inadequate national security.   This administration is very weak on that.   As we can see it took almost 3 months to send troops to Afghanistan as the general that Obama appointed, requested.
  • As an Alinsky ideologue, Obama is a Marxist cloaked in the office of the Presidency.  I don’t know how much more incompetent, and dangerous you can get.

While there are certainly Democrats who’ve yet to show spine in furtherance of vital change, let’s be absolutely clear about the unmitigated disaster that would follow if Republicans, in their present ultra-rightist incarnation, ruled our country exactly as they wickedly wished.

  • The only thing wicked it the libs victim mentality which fuels the “less than” approach and demands redistribution of wealth.   Since they are victims, they need an advocate, hence ACORN enters the picture.  Let’s be absolutely clear about the unmitigated disaster that is currently snowballing.  It’s called the Democrat victim mentality, and it seeks to suck the life out of anyone who acheives anything they deem unfit for prosperity.
